QB Brock Purdy Thread

Weird that it is the same tired talking pts of surrounding cast for like two years now lol. Wrights are gunna Wright I guess.

People wanna say that he can't carry the team without a supporting cast, but in reality what QB can do it without one? Purdy had the worst Center in the league, no #1 WR in Brandon Aiyuk, no RB, he did not even have his #2 RB, not to mention the best side of his O-line has been injured for majority of the season. I've never seen a QB lose that much and have good or great season.

He also had the best TE, his best performing WR of these season and worst kicker.. missing the most important games and kicks the entire season.

Some fair points but he was also extremely unclutch and made idiotic throws in key situations over and over again. While he was without some players, he still has some good players and a good coach around him.

The big worry I have is he didn't improve at all in my eyes. The stats are whatever; watch the games. His decision making was not great, his reads were not great (learn to take a check down sometime??), his deep accuracy was lacking (cost us several TDs even on completed balls due to his average arm).

Didn't improve from what exactly.. are you saying he's been the same QB the last 3 seasons?

Just a injured season all around

You're not going to see improvement when everything else gets worse. A good 5+ year vet will make better decisions in that situation. A player with 1.5 seasons worth of starts will struggle more

Herbert and Mahomes haven't progressed year after year from 5k yd seasons to now having 8k-10k yd seasons. It's up and down

Brock carried the offense to a 4th best Total Offense ranking despite all of that.

Clearly it doesn't, as I don't believe he was elite. I'm pretty sure Woo thinks he was a top 5 QB in 23 as well, so there is a disagreement there.

Funny thing is you weren't saying that in 2023.

Nobody was.
He was one of four QB MVP candidates.

I never have mentioned your name. Why do you make everything personal? It is weird AF.

From season 1 to 2, he improved. From season 2 to 3, he got worse or didn't improve. His decision making is what's concerning. Whether it's aiyuk double covered deep & cmc wide open underneath or Jennings covered deep & random backup RB open underneath, and him taking the dumb deep shot into double coverage is concerning.

Some of it is about availability of players. But Brock is a big reason we were 6-11. Not the biggest, but to just absolve him because of injuries is an odd take. He needs to get a lot better and a lot smarter. Doesn't matter what skill position/OL we trot out there. Until Brock gets smarter we are going to have issues
